Family Nurse Practitioner

Sharon Jackson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with nearly three decades of nursing experience, including more than 14 years as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Her diverse clinical background includes neurology, emergency medicine, primary care, women’s health, and long-term care, allowing her to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with both acute and chronic medical conditions. Sharon currently practices in neurology at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, where she evaluates and manages patients with a wide range of neurological disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, epilepsy, dementia, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, neuropathy, headaches, and other complex neurological conditions.

She performs comprehensive neurological assessments, interprets advanced diagnostic studies, coordinates hospital admissions and discharges, and collaborates closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Earlier in her advanced practice career, Sharon provided emergency care in a busy Emergency Department, where she evaluated and treated patients of all ages with urgent and emergent medical conditions. Her clinical training also included extensive experience in family medicine, cardiology, and women’s health, providing comprehensive preventive care, chronic disease management, wellness examinations, gynecologic care, and health education for diverse patient populations.

Before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, Sharon built an extensive nursing career across numerous high-acuity specialties, including cardiac care, nephrology, oncology, respiratory medicine, trauma, orthopedics, rehabilitation, intensive care step-down, emergency medicine, and perioperative services. She also spent more than a decade caring for residents in long-term care settings, developing expertise in geriatric medicine, wound care, chronic disease management, and the unique healthcare needs of older adults.

Sharon earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Southern University and A&M College after completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Our Lady of the Lake College. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to compassionate, patient-centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and improving outcomes through prevention, education, and evidence-based practice.

Through her work with Post Acute Clinical Services, Sharon is dedicated to delivering high-quality care that promotes clinical stability, strengthens continuity of care, and improves quality of life for residents. She supports coordinated in facility care delivered 7 days a week by the provider network.
