Kimberly Hannah Kupferberg, MSN, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in endocrinology, diabetes management, critical care, trauma, and family medicine. She is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care that empowers patients to successfully manage chronic conditions while improving long-term health outcomes.

Kimberly currently practices within the Jesse Brown Department of Veterans Affairs, where she provides comprehensive endocrine care as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, pharmacists, diabetes educators, dietitians, and nursing professionals. She specializes in the long-term management of diabetes and other endocrine disorders, developing individualized treatment plans, coordinating patient education, optimizing medication therapy, and leading quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance clinical outcomes and patient access to care.

Prior to joining the VA, Kimberly served as a Nurse Practitioner with Sinai Medical Group, providing comprehensive outpatient endocrinology care for medically underserved populations. In both roles, she has collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams to improve glucose control, educate patients on self-management strategies, and implement evidence-based approaches to chronic disease management.

Before becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, Kimberly developed a strong clinical foundation as a registered nurse in a Level I Trauma Center intensive care unit, where she cared for critically ill patients requiring advanced therapies including mechanical ventilation, vasopressor support, continuous renal replacement therapy, intra-aortic balloon pump management, and complex post-operative critical care. She also served as an ICU charge nurse, participated on the hospital’s Code Blue Committee, and helped implement a family-activated rapid response program to improve patient safety. Earlier in her career, she cared for patients with stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and other complex cardiovascular conditions on a telemetry and stroke unit.

Kimberly earned her Family Nurse Practitioner education from Lewis University after completing a Master of Science in Nursing with distinction from DePaul University. Her graduate research focused on patient advocacy during end-of-life care, reflecting her long-standing commitment to compassionate, patient-centered practice. She combines advanced clinical expertise with strong leadership skills and a passion for quality improvement to deliver exceptional care across diverse patient populations.

Through her work with Post Acute Clinical Services, Kimberly is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes clinical stability, strengthens continuity of care, and improves quality of life for residents. She supports coordinated in facility care delivered 7 days a week by the provider network.
